The End of the Road

Stepping stones over calm river

When you’ve reached the end of your tether
           And you’re under the weather
When you’ve got enough rope,
           And you’ve abandoned all hope
Going under for the third time,
           Drowning, not waving
(and) You’ve spent all of the money
That you’re meant to be saving
When the best part of your day
           is between sleeping and waking
When you’re too afraid to say
That both your back and heart are breaking
When the world won’t stop to let you off
And you’re still going but the going’s too tough
When the stuff you reap
Just ain’t the stuff that you sowed…
You’ll find your path…

… at the end of the road
